The Technology section of the New York Times (http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/13/googles-immigration-fixer/?partner=rss&emc=rss) this week ran an article about an employee at Google whose job it is to "fix" problems Google employees have with the immigration system. The article is interesting, but what is really striking is the tone of the comments to the online article. There is a display of real anger at Google's hiring of foreign workers in this time of economic hardship - when so many U.S. citizens are looking for work. Read the article. What's your opinion?

Even though America's Jewish community includes virtually known of the folks being targeted by the anti-immigrant law in Arizona, members of the community get nervous when they see individuals in another minority group being targeted unjustly. Hello everyone,
I had filed for my I485 on 19th July at Nebraska. My 90 days are getting over on 19th Oct. Still I have not received any receipts for I-485,EAD,I-131.
My lawyer is going to call USCIS to inquire about my case.
Does any one had experience calling USCIS after 90 days were over and the USCIS tracked your application and you got your receipts.
Would be great if any one can share there experiences.

Here's my take on the new Visa Bulletin First, bad news for Dominicans. Separate cutoffs have now been established for the Family First and 2B preference categories which are now earlier than the worldwide dates. Family First is 01 JUN 2004 and 2B is 01 JAN 2002. Looking for advice on my case -
We (I and my wife) filed for 485/EAD/AP on July 27 2007. We received all documents (receipt#, AP, FP etc) except EAD for my wife. The case status online shows her EAD application was received and pending. So on Jan 24th we put a Service Request for her EAD application. Yesterday we received a letter from USCIS with the following information --
The status ofthis service request is:
WAC-XX-XXX-XXXXX
Your 1-765 application was administratively closed on 0112912008.
If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
If anyone has similar experience or know why they would close a case without giving any information or RFE/NOID etc? I tried calling them but the IO couldn't provide any further info.

My H1-B visa ended on December 31, 2009. I applied for a change of status to F1 visa on December 21st, 2009 towards the Spring 2010 (Jan 2010) semester. I received an RFE stating that I need to send a new I-20 for a valid future semester.
Assuming this new I-20 is for Summer 2010 (May 2010), my question is as follows - If my change of status to F1 gets approved and my semester starts 2 months later, am I allowed to legally stay in the country?

I changed my employer after 9 months of filing 485 using AC21 a year ago and my new employer has reduced my workdays to 3 days a week starting this month. Can I get a second job for 2 days a week with same job description and salary etc ?

I have been working as a consultant, due to the tight job market conditions I am not able to find my next contract in bay area, which was my current location when we filed I485 in Aug 2007. So, may be we got to relocate to other state say Texas. So, I was wondering what would be the impact of the move on our pending I485 applications after we change address using AR11 form. Should we avoid such move while I485 is pending?
Any Advice/Suggestions?

My congressman's office came back with this response for my query on why my wife's case is pending..not even pre-adjudicated, while I got approved on Sept 3rd from TSC.
according to TSC, your file and your wife�s were separated at time of adjudication and that is what has caused the delay. I�m trying to find out why.
Anything like this happened to anyone. Is there anything that can be done, to recombine the cases. My attorney is not very responsive since he was with my last employer. What are my options? I am worried her case is falling thru the cracks. Without any information on the principal applicant and derivative's case may never get adjudicated.....
