A voice of reason in the GOP on immigration departs. He will be missed in this process. In the mean time, Florida's new Senator, George LeMieux, is certainly not sounding like a fighter for immigration reform. According to the Orlando Sentinel: LeMieux appears likely to steer clear of Martinez's controversial attempts to overhaul immigration law, which would include a path to citizenship for the undocumented. 'We need tosecure our borders,' LeMieux said. 'After we do that, we can figure what happens to people already here.'

Hi Friends,
My H1b 6 years time will expire on March 24th, 2011. One of my previous employer (eData experts) based out of PA had filed for my PERM labor in 12/12/1007.
But unfortunately due to their negligence it was denied and I was only told about only after 3 months. I currently work for another employer and they have not started my GC processing yet. I don't want to work for this new company because of lot of work pressure which is affecting my work life balance. Can someone out there please suggest me the options to stay in this country. This is very urgent. Your suggestions are really valuable for me. Appreciate your time.
Tks.

Hi,
I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology, graduating next year in May or October. I am currently on an F-1 student visa and have heard ominous things about getting an H1-b and GC in my field.
I know I have time and things can change, but it seems like they are becoming more difficult. Hence if there are people out there who have ideas, experiences and information to share about what the process is like for potential psychologists to get sponsored, I would greatly appreciate your reply.
thanks.

Some paras from Testing Time for Democrats (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/05/AR2007030501185.html)
The story of the new Congress is actually two stories. Democratic leaders and their grass-roots supporters will decide in the coming days which narrative will prevail.
In January, Democrats dominated the news, the public agenda and the Republicans. In the last weeks of February, the Republicans came back -- not by offering grand proposals but by using the limited tools they have to prove that Democrats don't have enough power, yet, to end the war in Iraq.
When they took control, Democrats looked crisp and disciplined, attributes not normally associated with their party. Speaker Nancy Pelosi's House quickly passed the Democrats' popular campaign promises, including measures on the minimum wage, stem cell research, renewable energy and reforms of the student loan and Medicare prescription drug programs.
This agenda had its skeptics, but it provided focus for a party long out of power and drew significant Republican defections, feeding a raft of "Republicans in Disarray" stories. Pelosi noted at a January news conference that so many Republicans voted for the Democratic proposals that one of her colleagues joked: "Maybe you made these bills too easy."
The Senate Democrats quickly pushed through a different version of the minimum-wage increase, and the party's leading foreign policy voices framed a critique of President Bush's Iraq policy that squared with the public's increasingly skeptical view of the war.
But recent weeks have held nothing but trouble for Democrats -- and it is odd, as one Democrat noted, that they should be on the defensive when the scandal over the treatment of wounded veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center has focused attention on yet another failed aspect of the administration's execution of the war and its aftermath.
Instead, one news story after another has highlighted differences among congressional Democrats over how to end the war. There is also the divide between the Washington party and activists at the grass roots and in the blogosphere. All of these problems are rooted in two unalterable facts: Democrats, on the basis of their thin majorities in Congress, lack the numbers to force an unwilling president to alter his course. And they are short of votes to cut off funds for the war altogether.
My Comments
Dems are not united on most issues.
Although this article is on Iraq, a similar situation will occur on Immigration. The big difference is that Dems are very interested in Iraq (they won elections on Iraq) whereas I haven't seen much much Democratic interest on Immigration.

We have received our EAD cards without having Finger Print done. We have received FP notice and scheduled for the next week but received our EAD cards.
EAD cards says "No Finger print available" on the right corner. Will this cause any problems?
Please advice.
Thank you.
You will not have issues. That's the way it is. Its fine.

Does someone with more experience than me have an estimation (I'd say one month)? Sorry, but I'm starting to get anxious that if I file April 2nd and not April 1st I could end up in trouble.

We are looking to talk to a good immigration lawyer and seek opinions on the following
(1) H1b visa transfer process for physicians after residencies into a jobs
(2) How to handle licensing issues - murthy.com has some info, but we need a better perspective
(3) Green cards for physicians - eligibility and time frame and minimum requirements etc..
Any any other pitfalls or booby traps that one has to be careful about.
A lot of physicians do visit IV website - am wondering if there are any user groups or forums on web that discuss potential issues and other stuff that we discuss on IV.

In that case, let's say your Combobox is called cmbBox and your Listbox is called lstBox. The code for displaying all of the items from the Combobox into the Listbox would be:
for (int i = 0; i < cmbBox.Items.Count; i++)
{
lstBox.Items.Add(cmbBox.Items[i]);
}
=)
for (int i = 0; i < cmbBox.Items.Count; i++)
{
lstBox.Items.Add(cmbBox.Items[i]);
}

Hi,
1) Is there any rule that you have to stay with your company for 6 months after getting the GC?
2) Is there any rule that you have to stay in the same job profile for 6 months after getting the GC?
Thanks.

My wife came to USA on H4 visa in January 2004. Later when she got a job, she changed that to H1B in September 2004. Since we do not yet have the EAD or green card, her company is now filing the Perm labor certifcation, to make sure that she gets the 7th year extension of H1B. The rule is that you should file the labor before the 6th year starts.
My question is when does her 5th year ends. Was it on January 2009 based on her arrival in USA or is it on Sepetember 2009 sincw her H1B visa started only on Septemeber 2004?
Please reply.
Thank you

I heard very good things about Martina Keller of Chicago. I spoke to her once regarding an immigration question and she answered with patience. When I asked about the charge - she said "thats fine.. its just one question". I was impressed.

Hi All
Here's my experience. I only have original receipt notice for H1 extension. Local offices in Jersey City and Bayonne wouldn't renew driving license. I went to Trenton. There the supervisor's name is Jewel. She checked their TVR book and that says H1 extension receipt notice is enough for 8 months renewal. She helped me with that and said she would tell their bosses about the local offices.

Company A applied for labor(EB2) in Dec2006. It was approved.
My I140 was filed in March 2007 and approved on Jan 10 2008.
I did not file for I485 in July 2007.
I had changed companies in April 2007.Presenly I am on Company B payroll.
Now, If I move back to Company A, would I be able to apply for my I485 when the date opens.
The online status for I140 says, Approved.
I am in good terms with both the employers.
If I move to company A; at the time of applying I485, do I need to have paystubs from Company A?
Please help. Thanks

There has been an interesting alliance of antis in both the health care and immigration arenas to scare people in to believing that illegally present immigrants will be eligible for subsidies to secure health insurance under the health care reform proposal being pushed by President Obama. That claim is patently false. But that did not stop one extremist in the Congress, Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) from screaming "You lie!" when President Obama addressed that myth. This appalling lack of respect has already led the GOP to go in to damage control mode and Wilson issued an apology within minutes of...
